Bookworld Zambia is looking for a qualified and detail-oriented Accounts Payable professional to join its team in Lusaka, Zambia.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• SAGE account creation, including TPIN and tax codes.
• Timely posting of non-stock invoices.
• Payment processing and allocation within agreed terms.
• Timely submission of Proof of Payment (POP) to suppliers.
• Monthly supplier age analysis, especially balances outstanding for 90+ days.
• General and sub-ledger postings, including accruals and provisions.
• Preparation of monthly stock losses schedules.
• Bi-annual updates of supplier bank details.
• Bi-annual supplier balance confirmations.
• Posting and filing of journals (JVs).
• Maintaining up-to-date supplier documentation.
• Preparation and updating of supplier Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Supplier relationship management.
• Preparation of VAT returns.
• Monthly reconciliation of VAT returns against turnover.
• Gratuity payments and provision postings.
• Secondary payroll processing.
• SOR reconciliations.
• Monthly clearing of control accounts.

Qualifications and Skills

• Studying towards a ZICA professional qualification, preferably at the final stage, or holding a relevant accounting qualification.
• Practical experience in accounts payable and supplier reconciliations.
• Knowledge of payroll, VAT, PAYE, NAPSA and NHIMA.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
• Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
