We are looking for energetic, disciplined and team-oriented kitchen staff to join our growing quick-service restaurant.

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience working in busy, structured restaurant environments such as KFC, Hungry Lion, Nando’s or similar franchise/quick-service restaurants, where following recipes, food safety procedures, portion controls and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) is essential.

Team members may be trained across several kitchen stations depending on their ability and experience.

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be expected to:

• Follow company recipes, SOPs and food preparation procedures accurately.
• Prepare food consistently according to specified portion sizes, cooking times and presentation standards.
• Operate grills, flat-top griddles, fryers and other commercial kitchen equipment safely.
• Prepare chicken, meat, vegetables, sauces and other ingredients for service.
• Bread and fry chicken products according to company procedures.
• Maintain excellent food hygiene and food safety standards.
• Follow stock rotation, labelling, storage and temperature-control procedures.
• Maintain a clean and organised workstation throughout the shift.
• Complete opening, restocking and closing duties.
• Work quickly and accurately during busy periods.
• Read and coordinate customer orders and kitchen tickets.
• Communicate effectively with other kitchen stations to ensure complete orders are prepared and dispatched together.
• Assist other team members when their station becomes busy.
• Minimise food wastage and follow portion-control standards.
• Report stock shortages, equipment problems or food-quality issues to management.
• Follow all workplace health, safety and hygiene requirements.
• Carry out reasonable kitchen duties assigned by supervisors or management.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

• Have completed education up to Grade 12.
• Be able to speak, read and understand English fluently.
• Hold a qualification, certificate or recognised training in Food Handling, Food Production, Catering, Hospitality or a related field.
• Have experience working in a commercial kitchen, restaurant or fast-food environment.
• Be comfortable following strict recipes, procedures and SOPs.
• Be able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and accuracy.
• Be physically capable of working on their feet for extended periods.
• Be willing to work evenings, weekends, public holidays and late closing shifts.
• Be reliable, punctual and disciplined.
• Be able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Be able to coordinate multiple customer orders during busy service periods.
• Ideally live near EastPark Mall or within a reasonable travelling distance and have reliable means of getting to work.

Preferred Experience

Preference may be given to applicants who have previously worked at structured quick-service or franchise restaurants such as:

KFC | Hungry Lion | Nando’s | Debonairs | Steers | Pizza Hut | Similar QSR/Restaurant Brands

Experience in any of the following areas will be an advantage:

• Commercial grilling
• Flat-top/griddle cooking
• Deep frying
• Chicken breading
• Chicken preparation
• Meat preparation
• Burger assembly / make-line operations
• Kitchen order coordination
• Stock preparation
• Food safety and hygiene

Working Conditions

This is a full-time position in a busy quick-service restaurant.

Candidates must be prepared to work according to a restaurant rota which may include:

Late-night transport will be provided for employees travelling to approved nearby areas, subject to the company's transport arrangements.

1. Shop Assistant (1 Position) – Preferably Female

Experience: Minimum 1 year

The Shop Assistant will be the face of Spud & Stack, responsible for sales, customer service, and supporting kitchen and shop operations.

• Greet and assist customers professionally.
• Accurately take and communicate orders to the kitchen.
• Handle payments and customer inquiries responsibly.
• Assist with order packing, serving, and basic food preparation.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the shop and service areas.
• Support opening, restocking, and closing duties.
• Monitor stock levels and report shortages.
• Adhere to company policies, hygiene standards, and SOPs.

Ideal candidates are friendly, presentable, honest, numerate, organised, and able to work efficiently under pressure.

2. Kitchen Assistants (2 Positions)

Experience: Minimum 2 years

Kitchen Assistants will prepare and cook a variety of Spud & Stack’s signature products including burgers, fries, cheesebeef, mac & cheese with chicken, chicken dishes, Chips Mayai, and loaded fries.

• Prepare food according to recipes and SOPs.
• Operate burger/make-line stations and deep fryers safely.
• Maintain portion control and presentation standards.
• Follow strict food safety, hygiene, and stock rotation procedures.
• Keep workstations clean and organised.
• Work efficiently during busy periods and assist other stations as needed.
• Report stock shortages, equipment issues, and food quality concerns.

Experience in commercial grilling, deep frying, chicken and meat preparation, and kitchen coordination is advantageous.

3. Shawarma Assistant (1 Position)

Experience: Minimum 2 years in shawarma preparation or similar fast-food environment

The Shawarma Assistant will ensure consistent, hygienic, and timely preparation of shawarma products.

• Prepare shawarma ingredients and season meats.
• Operate the shawarma station safely and efficiently.
• Assemble wraps and platters to company standards.
• Maintain portion accuracy and food presentation.
• Ensure cleanliness, hygiene, and compliance with food safety procedures.
• Coordinate with kitchen staff to complete orders promptly.
• Minimise food wastage and report stock shortages.

General Requirements for All Applicants

• Reside in or near Kalingalinga/Kamloops area.
• Minimum education: Grade 12.
• Proficient in English (speaking, reading, and understanding).
• Relevant experience for the applied position.
• Ability to follow recipes, procedures, and SOPs accurately.
• Capable of working in a fast-paced environment with attention to quality.
• Physically able to stand for extended periods.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, public holidays, and late shifts.
• Reliable, honest, hardworking, and team-oriented.
• Clean and hygiene-conscious with a willingness to learn and accept training.
• Reliable transportation to work.
• Food and kitchen applicants with qualifications or training in Food Handling, Production, Catering, or Hospitality are preferred.

Preferred Experience in Structured Quick Service Restaurants

Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience at well-known quick-service brands such as KFC, Hungry Lion, Nando’s, Debonairs, Steers, Pizza Hut, or similar establishments that emphasize recipe adherence, SOP compliance, food safety, and portion control.
