About LIBES

Livingstone Institute of Business and Engineering Studies (LIBES), one of the 28 public TEVET institutions under the Ministry of Technology and Science, is inviting qualified, suitably and highly motivated individuals to apply for the following vacant position.

Job Purpose

The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting members of staff, students and materials within the organisation, ensuring efficient and safe operations of the institution's pool vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

1. Safely transport staff, students, management, visitors, documents, equipment and other authorised items to designated destinations.
2. Conduct routine vehicle inspections and ensure proper maintenance procedures are followed.
3. Maintain accurate logs and records of vehicle usage and mileage.
4. Remain available and responsive to authorised emergency transportation requests, particularly where a student's health or safety is concerned.
5. Assist with loading and offloading of materials as needed.
6. Carry out mechanical checks on vehicles and identify faults that may affect their safe operation.
7. Attend to and rectify minor mechanical problems where necessary.
8. Oversee vehicle service schedules and coordinate routine maintenance and repairs with designated service providers or workshops.
9. Uphold institutional safety policies and procedures at all times.
10. Work day and night shifts.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

1. Grade 12 Certificate with 5 credits or better, including Mathematics and English.
2. Automotive/Mechanical Engineering Trade Test Level 1 Certificate.
3. Two (2) years' work experience driving a variety of vehicles.
4. A valid driver's licence (Class CE) with a clean record.
